What is Mega-Sena?
Mega-Sena is Brazil’s most famous lottery, run by the state bank Caixa Econômica Federal since 1996. Players pick six numbers from 1 to 60, and draws take place several times a week. Its highlight of the year is the Mega da Virada, a special New Year’s Eve draw whose jackpot cannot roll over and routinely becomes the largest prize in Brazilian lottery history. Prizes are paid for matching four, five or six numbers, and players can mark more than six numbers on a slip to play many combinations at once.
How Mega-Sena works
- Pick six different numbers from 1–60 – your own favourites or a random Quick Pick.
- Check your line once the numbers are drawn – only which numbers match counts, not their order.
- The top prize needs all six main numbers; smaller combinations win lower prizes set by the operator.
Your chances in Mega-Sena
The draw can produce 50,063,860 different results, which means the jackpot odds for one line are 1 in 50,063,860. Lower down the table the picture changes quickly: a result of five main numbers turns up about once in 154,518 lines, and at least three correct main numbers about once in 97 lines.
In Latin America, Melate (1 in 32.5 million) has better odds and Mais Milionária (1 in 238.4 million) is harder. Compared with US Powerball, the jackpot is about 5.8 times easier to hit. Among the 88 lotteries on this site, Mega-Sena ranks number 75 for jackpot odds, where number 1 is the easiest.
Playing two lines in two draws every week – 208 lines a year – you would wait on average around 240,692 years for one jackpot, so the jackpot is something to dream about rather than plan for.
Mega-Sena generator, odds table and demo
Need numbers for your next ticket? The generator creates one to ten random Mega-Sena lines that follow the official rules, ready to copy. The odds tab breaks down every possible result, while the demo draw runs a realistic draw with your own numbers. In the demo you tap six numbers on a 60-ball board, or let Quick Pick do it.
The simulator goes further: ten years of two lines twice a week means 2,080 lines, and on average about 21 of them would match exactly three main numbers while the chance of a top prize in that time is only about 1 in 24,069. A random line is no luckier than your favourite numbers, yet it spreads your picks across the whole range instead of the 1–31 that birthday players crowd into.
