About Quina
Quina is one of Caixa’s oldest number games in Brazil and is drawn six days a week. Instead of a small pool, it uses a large one: five numbers are drawn from 80, and players can choose between five and fifteen numbers per bet. Prizes are paid for two, three, four or five matches, so even a pair of correct numbers wins something. Every June a special Quina de São João draw is held with a boosted jackpot that does not roll over, timed to Brazil’s festas juninas.
Playing Quina step by step
- Select five different numbers from 1–80, or let a Quick Pick choose them for you.
- After the draw, count how many of your numbers appear among the winning numbers, in any order.
- The top prize needs all five main numbers; smaller combinations win lower prizes set by the operator.
Quina odds explained
There are 24,040,016 possible combinations in Quina, so a single line has a 1 in 24,040,016 chance of the top prize. The next-best result, four main numbers, comes up about once every 64,107 lines, and matching at least three of the five main numbers happens roughly once in 855 lines.
Compared with US Powerball, the jackpot is about 12 times easier to hit. Among the 88 lotteries on this site, Quina ranks number 54 for jackpot odds, where number 1 is the easiest. In Latin America, Baloto (1 in 15.4 million) has better odds and Melate (1 in 32.5 million) is harder.
Playing two lines in two draws every week – 208 lines a year – you would wait on average around 115,577 years for one jackpot, so the jackpot is something to dream about rather than plan for.
Using the Quina tools on this page
For a quick pick, the generator above builds random Quina lines – as many as ten at once – and checks that every number fits the 1–80 range. Switch to the odds tab for the chance of each combination, or open the demo to play a free draw. In the demo you tap five numbers on a 80-ball board, or let Quick Pick do it.
The simulator goes further: ten years of two lines twice a week means 2,080 lines, and on average about 2.4 of them would match exactly three main numbers while the chance of a top prize in that time is only about 1 in 11,558. A random line is no luckier than your favourite numbers, yet it spreads your picks across the whole range instead of the 1–31 that birthday players crowd into.
Lottery Toolbox does not sell Quina tickets; the demo uses no real money. Play only with the official operator and within a budget. 18+.
