About Melate

Melate is Mexico’s leading lotto game, operated by Pronósticos para la Asistencia Pública, the state agency whose profits fund social assistance programmes. Players choose six numbers from 1 to 56, and for a small extra stake the same numbers can also enter the Revancha and Revanchita draws, which give second and third chances at separate jackpots. Melate jackpots often reach hundreds of millions of pesos. With a pool of 56 numbers, the odds of the main jackpot are about one in 32 million – close to Lotto Texas.

Playing Melate step by step

  1. Select six different numbers from 1–56, or let a Quick Pick choose them for you.
  2. After the draw, count how many of your numbers appear among the winning numbers, in any order.
  3. The top prize needs all six main numbers; smaller combinations win lower prizes set by the operator.

Melate odds explained

There are 32,468,436 possible combinations in Melate, so a single line has a 1 in 32,468,436 chance of the top prize. The next-best result, five main numbers, comes up about once every 108,228 lines, and matching at least three of the six main numbers happens roughly once in 79 lines.

Compared with US Powerball, the jackpot is about 9.0 times easier to hit. Among the 88 lotteries on this site, Melate ranks number 65 for jackpot odds, where number 1 is the easiest. In Latin America, Quina (1 in 24.0 million) has better odds and Mega-Sena (1 in 50.1 million) is harder.

Playing two lines in two draws every week – 208 lines a year – you would wait on average around 156,098 years for one jackpot, so the jackpot is something to dream about rather than plan for.

Melate generator, odds table and demo

For a quick pick, the generator above builds random Melate lines – as many as ten at once – and checks that every number fits the 1–56 range. The odds tab breaks down every possible result, while the demo draw runs a realistic draw with your own numbers. In the demo you tap six numbers on a 56-ball board, or let Quick Pick do it.

The simulator goes further: ten years of two lines twice a week means 2,080 lines, and on average about 25 of them would match exactly three main numbers while the chance of a top prize in that time is only about 1 in 15,610. A random line is no luckier than your favourite numbers, yet it spreads your picks across the whole range instead of the 1–31 that birthday players crowd into.

Lottery Toolbox does not sell Melate tickets; the demo uses no real money. Play only with the official operator and within a budget. 18+.
