About Mini Loto (Japan)
Mini Loto is the smallest of Japan’s three Loto games, drawn every Tuesday. A play costs ¥200 and you pick five numbers from 1 to 31. The first prize, for matching all five, is around ¥10 million, and there is no carry-over, so the prize stays steady. In exchange, the odds are excellent: about one in 169,911 for the top prize. A single bonus number decides the second prize, and prizes are paid from three matches upwards.
Playing Mini Loto (Japan) step by step
- Select five different numbers from 1–31, or let a Quick Pick choose them for you.
- After the draw, count how many of your numbers appear among the winning numbers, in any order.
- The top prize needs all five main numbers; smaller combinations win lower prizes set by the operator.
Mini Loto (Japan) odds explained
There are 169,911 possible combinations in Mini Loto (Japan), so a single line has a 1 in 169,911 chance of the top prize. The next-best result, four main numbers, comes up about once every 1,307 lines, and matching at least three of the five main numbers happens roughly once in 50 lines.
Compared with US Powerball, the jackpot is about 1,720 times easier to hit. Among the 88 lotteries on this site, Mini Loto (Japan) ranks number 1 for jackpot odds, where number 1 is the easiest. In Asia, Vietlott Lotto 5/35 (1 in 3.9 million) is harder.
Playing two lines in two draws every week – 208 lines a year – you would wait on average around 817 years for one jackpot, which shows how much better small pools are than the headline games.
Free Mini Loto (Japan) tools
For a quick pick, the generator above builds random Mini Loto (Japan) lines – as many as ten at once – and checks that every number fits the 1–31 range. Next to it you will find the full odds table and a demo draw you can repeat as often as you like. In the demo you tap five numbers on a 31-ball board, or let Quick Pick do it.
The simulator goes further: ten years of two lines twice a week means 2,080 lines, and on average about 40 of them would match exactly three main numbers while the chance of a top prize in that time is only about 1 in 82. Remember that a random line has exactly the same chance as any other; its real advantage is that you are less likely to share a prize with players who pick birthdays.
