About Mark Six
Mark Six is Hong Kong’s only legal lottery, operated by the Hong Kong Jockey Club, which channels much of the proceeds into charities and community projects. Players pick six numbers from 1 to 49, and each draw produces six numbers plus an ‘extra number’ from the same pool that decides some lower prizes. Draws are held several times a week, and special ‘Snowball’ draws around festivals such as Chinese New Year carry boosted jackpots. The top-prize odds are the classic one in 13,983,816.
Playing Mark Six step by step
- Select six different numbers from 1–49, or let a Quick Pick choose them for you.
- After the draw, count how many of your numbers appear among the winning numbers, in any order.
- The top prize needs all six main numbers; smaller combinations win lower prizes set by the operator.
Mark Six odds explained
There are 13,983,816 possible combinations in Mark Six, so a single line has a 1 in 13,983,816 chance of the top prize. The next-best result, five main numbers, comes up about once every 54,201 lines, and matching at least three of the six main numbers happens roughly once in 54 lines.
Compared with US Powerball, the jackpot is about 21 times easier to hit. Among the 88 lotteries on this site, Mark Six ranks number 37 for jackpot odds, where number 1 is the easiest. In Asia, Loto 7 (Japan) (1 in 10.3 million) has better odds and Lotto 6/49 (Taiwan) (1 in 14.0 million) has exactly the same odds.
Playing two lines in two draws every week – 208 lines a year – you would wait on average around 67,230 years for one jackpot, so the jackpot is something to dream about rather than plan for.
Using the Mark Six tools on this page
Need numbers for your next ticket? The generator creates one to ten random Mark Six lines that follow the official rules, ready to copy. Next to it you will find the full odds table and a demo draw you can repeat as often as you like. In the demo you tap six numbers on a 49-ball board, or let Quick Pick do it.
The simulator goes further: ten years of two lines twice a week means 2,080 lines, and on average about 37 of them would match exactly three main numbers while the chance of a top prize in that time is only about 1 in 6,723. No generator can improve the odds – every combination is equally likely – but it saves time and avoids popular patterns such as birthdays.
