Eurojackpot in a nutshell

Eurojackpot is the pan-European lottery played in 19 countries, from Germany and the Nordic countries to Italy, Spain and the Baltic states. It was launched in 2012 and is drawn every Tuesday and Friday in Helsinki. In 2022 the game was updated: the second field of Euro numbers grew from 10 to 12, and a second weekly draw was added. The jackpot starts at €10 million and is capped at €120 million. Eurojackpot and EuroMillions now share the same 5/50 + 2/12 format, so their jackpot odds are identical.

How to play Eurojackpot

  1. Choose five different numbers from 1–50, or let a Quick Pick choose them for you.
  2. Add two bonus numbers from 1–12. They are drawn from a separate pool, so the same value can appear in both parts of the result.
  3. Wait for the draw and compare your line with the winning numbers; the order does not matter.
  4. The top prize needs all five main numbers plus both bonus numbers; smaller combinations win lower prizes set by the operator.

What are the odds in Eurojackpot?

A single Eurojackpot line has a 1 in 139,838,160 chance of winning the top prize – that is the number of different combinations the draw can produce. Getting at least three main numbers right is far more common, about one line in 209, while a result of five main numbers with one of the two bonus numbers happens about once in 6,991,908 lines.

Among the 88 lotteries on this site, Eurojackpot ranks number 82 for jackpot odds, where number 1 is the easiest. In Europe, EuroMillions (1 in 139.8 million) has exactly the same odds and Lotto 6aus49 (1 in 139.8 million) has exactly the same odds. Compared with US Powerball, the jackpot is about 2.1 times easier to hit.

Playing two lines in two draws every week – 208 lines a year – you would wait on average around 672,299 years for one jackpot, so the jackpot is something to dream about rather than plan for.

Using the Eurojackpot tools on this page

Start with the generator: it produces random Eurojackpot lines in the correct format, from one line to ten, and you can copy them in one click. Next to it you will find the full odds table and a demo draw you can repeat as often as you like.

The simulator goes further: ten years of two lines twice a week means 2,080 lines, and on average about 9.7 of them would match exactly three main numbers while the chance of a top prize in that time is only about 1 in 67,230. A random line is no luckier than your favourite numbers, yet it spreads your picks across the whole range instead of the 1–31 that birthday players crowd into.
