Swiss Lotto
6 from 1–42 + 1 from 1–6

What is Swiss Lotto?

Swiss Lotto is Switzerland’s national lottery, run by Swisslos in the German- and Italian-speaking regions and Loterie Romande in French-speaking Switzerland. Draws are held every Wednesday and Saturday. Players choose six numbers from 1 to 42 and one Lucky Number from 1 to 6, and the jackpot requires both. The small main pool of 42 keeps the odds reasonable, while the Lucky Number multiplies them by six to about one in 31.5 million – which is why Swiss jackpots often grow to tens of millions of francs.

How Swiss Lotto works

  1. Pick six different numbers from 1–42 – your own favourites or a random Quick Pick.
  2. Add one bonus number from 1–6. It is drawn from a separate pool, so the same value can appear in both parts of the result.
  3. Check your line once the numbers are drawn – only which numbers match counts, not their order.
  4. The top prize needs all six main numbers plus the bonus number; smaller combinations win lower prizes set by the operator.

Your chances in Swiss Lotto

The draw can produce 31,474,716 different results, which means the jackpot odds for one line are 1 in 31,474,716. Lower down the table the picture changes quickly: a result of six main numbers without the bonus turns up about once in 6,294,943 lines, and at least three correct main numbers about once in 34 lines.

In Europe, Totoloto (1 in 24.8 million) has better odds and El Gordo de la Primitiva (1 in 31.6 million) is harder. Compared with US Powerball, the jackpot is about 9.3 times easier to hit. Among the 88 lotteries on this site, Swiss Lotto ranks number 63 for jackpot odds, where number 1 is the easiest.

Playing two lines in two draws every week – 208 lines a year – you would wait on average around 151,321 years for one jackpot, so the jackpot is something to dream about rather than plan for.

Free Swiss Lotto tools

Need numbers for your next ticket? The generator creates one to ten random Swiss Lotto lines that follow the official rules, ready to copy. The odds tab breaks down every possible result, while the demo draw runs a realistic draw with your own numbers. In the demo you also choose the bonus number from 1–6, exactly as on a real slip.

The simulator goes further: ten years of two lines twice a week means 2,080 lines, and on average about 57 of them would match exactly three main numbers while the chance of a top prize in that time is only about 1 in 15,132. No generator can improve the odds – every combination is equally likely – but it saves time and avoids popular patterns such as birthdays.
